ESG takes part in the Team Challenge Rostock for the first time
Men’s team finishes in the top third
On 17June 2015, the 6th Annual Team Challenge Rostock road race was held, which this year was performed as a relay race. At 1,044 runners, nearly 40 percent more runners participated than last year, a new record for the event. Men’s, women’s and mixed teams competed, with each runner covering 3.5 km.
For the first time, a men's team from ESG also participated. Tom Triebel, Andreas Stegemann, René Marmulla and Mathias Kuhl finished up with a time of 1:04:04.8, good for 78th place in the overall standings. Among the men's teams, the ESG colleagues landed at No. 68. The fastest ESG athlete was anchor Andreas Stegemann, with a time of 13:32.6.
The starter’s pistol was fired for ESG and 260 other teams in a light drizzle at 6:30 PM at the city harbor on the Warnow River. As usual, teams from various local companies, the university, social entities and city institutions took part.
The ESG team was loudly cheered on by colleagues and friends along the route. After the race, it was agreed to participate again next year and possibly establish a further quartet from the ranks of Stralsund steel and plant manufacturer.
